The ONLY issue I had with Keto was that I had no "gas" at the gym. And that was enough to get me eating carbs again. If I get 200 to 400 grams of carbs every day... I feel like the Hulk. If I restrict my carbs, my strength significantly suffers. Less strength, less weight lifted, less muscle, less calories burned at rest. I can eat 4,000 calories a day and maintain my current weight... that's right now though. It took me over a year to get to this point. I did feel great on Keto though. Regarding labs, you'll get those done during the intake process so no need to do those on your own beforehand.
